Creatively, I started out as an actor in theatre. After attending drama school and taking several LAMDA exams, I went through Youth Theatre in Solihull and Birmingham before working as a child actor in Professional Rep in Birmingham.
Performing in O Fair Jerusalem written by David Edgar and directed by David Rome, a tale of the black death and cited as one of Edgar’s best 1970’s plays, I managed to get a small name check in a TIMES of London review.
It’s fun as the playwright to have come full circle today and to watch John Propster direct actors as they test my play Route 66 to the Grand Canyon prior to casting and the lead into production opening at the end of 2025.

While John is working with the actors, the costume and art departments begin to create the set and production design from the descriptions in the play. Here is a flat for a tow truck pre painting and finishing. It is described in the play as:
A tow truck has now appeared beside Ruth’s car. Again, a CUT-OUT/FLAT.

And later must change into:
Mother and Ruth turn James’s truck around to reveal a paramedic ambulance on the other side of the tow truck.
